Castor

The "useful origami" inter-forum challenge is not inspiring me, no matter how I try, probably because the very lack of usefulness of my folds is part of the fun. Thus, let me introduce this totally useless beaver:

Structurally, this is close to the blintzed fish base I already used on my squirrel, but the tesslated tail (which motivates this model's existence) and the shaping into volume were a bit more work than anticipated...

The front legs are not great and I'd have liked a colour change for the teeth, but all in all, I'm not likely to re-fold it, finding fitting proportions alone took hours. Even though the result looks OK, technically it's quite a weak invention (e.g. the back had to be glued lest I'd see the whole thing fall apart in an hour...)

  1. That's a cute one :D I liked specially its tail.

  2. Merci & thank you ! The tesselated tail was one of the main goals, but it cost the model its colour change (for the teeth), a double sheet would have been a bit too thick, I think...
