(bicoloured rectangle - double unryu sheet + MC, 32cm x 96cm)

This might be the first club-footed origami model.

Since I'd folded Dracula, I'd been toying with the idea of folding Igor, the hunchbacked servant. Depending on the scenario, he works for Dracula -helping him to move his coffin from crypt to crypt- or for Dr. Frankenstein -in which case his menial tasks comprise a spare-part service for the good doctor. In either case, it would seem that he is an invention of Hollywood, I can't remember him from either book.

Anyway, this month's challenge on the french forum (theme : "Gore"), was the occasion to get working, so here comes my Igor :

The family album wouldn't be complete without his Master :

Folding both coffin and character out of a single sheet wasn't a piece of cake - it took me forever to find proportions that worked for me. I first dissected Eric Joisel's "self-made man" and his hobbit jumping out of a box. For the face and arms, I ended up using the sheet's surface much like for Dracula. The middle section of the rectangle turned into the coffin and the lower part wraps around the whole thing to end up as belly and legs. A first rectangular version was horrible; the present shape is much more pleasing, but it's hell to draw a CP for it, so I had to devise a box with the corresponding shape to find out where to put the folding lines.

This model is dedicated to Eric.
